I am a member of the Women’s History Project Committee at my local library. Every March we have an art show (the kick off event) and programming (talks, presentations, panel discussions) celebrating women’s achievements in conjunction with a specific theme. This year we chose Women and Nature as the theme. I chair the art show, and last night we had the opening reception (attended by more than 150 people). Sixty-six artists participated expressing their relationship with the natural world in many different forms and using many media. Here are some of my favorites (although I loved everything submitted this year). Click on the individual work to read a description of the piece.
“Small” profile of Althea Crone, the woman who designed and made the tiny sweaters worn by the puppet Coraline in the movie of the same name. I, too, have a fascination for making miniatures of everyday things and was very excited to see this on YouTube.
Out of Sorts Press has a new website. It’s full of basic information about letterpress printing and has some nice animated features. Enjoy!
Finally, we have a president who represents us - US - we, the people of the United States of America. The fact that he can dance (and seems to like to dance) is just one of those unexpected bonuses in life you appreciate.
